Week Of Awesome

It’s no secret to my friends that I’m no big fan of the Christmas season. I won’t rant here, but just take my word that I don’t like it. The week between Christmas and New Year’s, on the other hand, is frickin’ sweet. All the Christmas stuff is done, I always have at least a few friends with time off work, there’s usually plenty of ice, and (if we’re lucky like this year) it snows nearly the whole time. Basically, it’s a winter playground with nothing but recess scheduled all day long.

Between Jen’s family being in town, other commitments, and the general need to recover a little bit, there was no day where we really got after it. But every single day we got out and did something. I got down to Provo for a couple days on the ice, I got to pretend to be a hockey goalie again (which was hilarious), I got to ski tons of world-class powder, and Jen joined me for a canyon-to-canyon traverse that included the Hallway Couloir and was the biggest ski tour of her life (so far). Honestly, I’m kinda happy to be sitting at a desk right now. I could really use the rest.
