Blazing Saddles

Blazing Saddles is an incredible looking pitch. It looks like it should be way harder than the 5.10b grade it gets, which generally makes for really fun climbing. But, it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere, so Jen and I have never made it up to this thing. However, we decided that needed to end, so we made the convoluted approach, and climbed the not-so-sweet approach pitches to get to this super classic that rarely sees traffic.

It was worth the effort. This pitch is absolutely awesome. I mean, where else do you get to stem off a somehow bomber massive death flake to turn the 5.11 thin hands into chill climbing, and then pull a 5.10 roof crack four pitches off the deck with not a single person around? If this thing is in your pay grade, I highly recommend it. Especially since a little more traffic would really help keep it clean.
