Queen Creek

Much like Mt Lemmon, I had never heard of Queen Creek, and it was not on any travel plan. But, a friend told us to check it out as we went past Phoenix, so we stopped for a quick look and ended up staying a few days.

This place over delivered for sure. It’s a conglomerate rock much like Smith Rocks, but with more pockets and less pebbles. It also tends to have steeper formations then Smith, so you can get on hard steep stuff instead of dead vertical death crimping. We both loved it.

Jen redpointed a 5.10a route, her hardest of the trip, and I tried super hard on a couple things which I did not send. If I lived in Phoenix, I would be here all the time.

Queen Creek.

Local climbing alliance replacing bolts. Thanks guys!
Pocket Party (5.10b)
The chains on a super cool 13a that I tried. I could do all the moves first time, but putting it together would require many more days than we were prepared to sacrifice.
