Squamish

After managing to not break ourselves on the Shore, Jen and I headed up to Squamish. Today is day four, and we’re chilling in a coffee shop waiting for the rain to stop. The first three days, however, were perfect cool weather with some of the world’s best granite. After driving up and grabbing the last campsite available, we got in a few pitches by the ocean. Then Nicole joined us with Cam and Paige for a few more pitches at the Smoke Bluffs.

Yesterday, Jen and I made a run up Angel’s Crest, which she did 10 years ago and I have never done. Of the 13 pitches of climbing and several hundred feet of scrambling we managed to only get off route once. The climbing was really good, and the not-climbing was about as reasonable and bushwacking gets. After climbing the route, we stopped by the gear store and bought the new guide book, which has a lot better route info then our 2001 edition and would have probably saved us at least an hour of second guessing decisions, but the extra adventure was worth it. Now, if it would just stop raining I could get back to climbing…
