Europe / Part 4 – Wilder Kaiser

After we returned to Wörgl, Austria with a fairly broken guide, Jen and I re-grouped and decided to head out for our own adventure on Jasmin’s home trails. Unable to show us around her amazing back-yard playground, Jasmin gave us a plethora of beta including a map, GPS coordinates, and a written description of where we needed to go. Of course, this didn’t stop us from becoming lost almost immediately on a ride that would ultimately include a gondola ride followed by still thousands of feet of elevation gain and loss on everything from incredible singletrack to paved roads straight from postcards.

Jasmin referred to this several-hour loop from her house as the Filzalm Trail, in reference to the best place to stop and get a beer along the way. The next day, we kept things much simpler. Instead of the meta-tour, Jen and I hopped a train a couple stations up the valley and rode list-served lap after lap on the Fleckalm Trail—also named for the best place to grab a beer. It was at about this time that we were starting to figure out the naming conventions in Austria.
