Creeksgiving Roadtrip — Indian Creek Send Fest

After the Moab portion of the trip, Jen and I drove down to the Creek to join the rest of our crew for the annual Creeksgiving dinner and a few days of desert crack climbing. We hang out at relatively untraveled walls, and every pitch I climbed for the whole trip was something completely new. Gym time and finally figuring out how to climb off-fingers cracks have both really paid off for me lately, and I managed to flash one 5.12 and onsight another one, which is pretty rare for me.

Jen also had a breakthrough, climbing several hard cracks on the first try and leading her first pitch of desert climbing in several years. I always love watching people push themselves, and I was happier for her success than my own. Dinner was amazing as always, and if we weren’t camped in the sticks by ourselves we would have had enough left-overs to feed a whole other campsite. And this is despite Alex putting down three heaping plates of food followed by four big slices of pie. I have absolutely no idea how he eats as much as he does.

Now we’re back in SLC and the ski photos are starting to fill people’s social feeds. I’m not positive that I’ll make it back to the desert this year, or if we’ll start heading into the mountains above the house for skiing and ice climbing. Either way, we win.
