Back To Red Rocks

After slot canyons and a bit of cragging around Zion, Jen and I decided to head a bit south to Red Rocks, yet again. The goal remained the same. Do a ton of cragging and get back into climbing shape. It may seem like a strange goal, since we’ve basically been climbing for nine months, but during that time we’ve done a lot of long, moderate trad routes, and any real strength is really lacking.

So, each morning we would drive in early to beat the timed entrance, chill at the second pull-out eating breakfast and wait for it to warm up, try a few hard routes and get nice and pumped, then head to Lovell Canyon to kick back for the night.

The plan worked pretty good. Jen sent a few routes near her hardest redpoint grade, and I managed to get back in to the mid 12s without too much trouble. We were both pretty stoked, and now we’re headed farther south.
