Creeksgiving

Thanksgiving at the Creek has become a tradition among our little crew, but this year was a bit of a mess. Weather report said 50-degrees and sunny, but the reality was 34-degrees and covered with snow. We used up the first day down there by driving the road back to South Six Shooter. Our thought that was we could get everyone up and down this pretty-chill tower no matter how wet it was, but after our mud-fest in the trucks and a hike to the base, we found that at least eight other people had the same idea. So instead of climbing, we went back to camp to start cooking and start drinking. I’ve had worse days.

Dinner was amazing as always. Everyone pulled out all the stops and our desert campground hosted a dinner worthy of any family dining room. So, we partied the night away and woke up in the morning to find exactly the same weather. It was still pretty wet everywhere, and we decided that climbing soft sandstone cracks wouldn’t be the best idea. Everyone had a different idea of where to go. Rick and Jess went to Zion. Everyone who owned a Sprinter and a dirt bike went to Moab. Jen and I went home, and after 10 hours of driving over the last couple days we ended up climbing five minutes from our house in Little Cottonwood. My wrist is still a little jacked, so everything we climbed was pretty chill. But, just like hanging out with your friends in camp, classic granite cracks are always fun.
