Zion is a really special place for me. Not only does it contain some of my favorite desert climbs, but it’s also the place where Jen and I got married three years ago. The weather was perfect on that day, and it seems to be perfect every year on this weekend. So, the decision to come back and climb here on our anniversary is a pretty easy one.
Originally we had some rather ambitious goals, but I’m still a bit injured, and we both wanted to keep things a little more chill. So, we slept in, cragged a bit, drank wine, and generally enjoyed being in such an incredible place.
Maybe one of these days we’ll get fancy and spend the night in a nice hotel room instead of a van in the desert. Or maybe we’ll go to a museum instead of thrashing through the scrub oak on the way to a climb. Then again, maybe not.
