Salmon River

While I spent three years as a river guide back in my living-in-a-truck days, the last time I was on the water was about 2003. While I liked rafting, it was always just a way for me to scratch out some income and let me climb a whole lot. So, after moving to Utah I quit cold turkey and didn’t really notice.

However, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t jump at the chance to get back on the water when my aunt and uncle invited me and Jen to join them for five days on the Lower Salmon. The idea of doing a trip where I wasn’t responsible for all of the work and didn’t have to keep clients entertained sounded awesome. Best of all, it meant that we could bring Murphy.

Jen and I had a great time rowing whitewater, hanging out with old and new friends, and generally unplugging from life for a few days. But, I guarantee that no one on this trip had more fun than Murphy. After a day of getting used to being in a boat that constantly had water crashing over the top of it, he found his river legs and became an honorary water dog.

There are a lot of Murphy shots. Deal with it.

And Caleb, who loves liquor and beef jerky.
And Sheep.
And ear-to-ear-smiles.
